A star Mountain West guard has entered the portal

We have a legitimate transfer shocker, as New Mexico guard Jamal Mashburn Jr. has announced that he will enter the transfer portal.

The news was first reported by On3's Jamie Shaw.

Mashburn was a star of the Lobos' NCAA Tournament team this year, averaging 14.1 points this season, helping them win the Mountain West Tournament title and make the Big Dance. That included a 21-point performance against San Diego State in the conference championship clinching game.

The 6'1 guard began his career at Minnesota before following his coach Richard Pitino to New Mexico. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
