In news that is not surprising but plenty impactful, Drake star Bennett Stirtz has announced he will transfer to Iowa, following coach Ben McCollum to Iowa City.

Stirtz's story became well-known this March. Coming out of high school, the 6'4 guard had zero Division I offers, instead electing to play for McCollum at DII Northwest Missouri State. McCollum then followed McCollum to Drake, where he averaged19.2 points, 5.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds winning Missouri Valley Player of the Year and helping the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament.

Stirtz will now follow his coach to Iowa and see if his incredible story can continue with success in the Big Ten. He will also test the NBA Draft waters, although the presumption now is that he will play college basketball in 2025-2026.
