Former Michigan State guard Rocket Watts makes his transfer choice

Former Michigan State Rocket Watts, who was once a Top 50 prospect coming out of high school, has made his transfer choice: He announced on Saturday afternoon that he has committed to Mississippi State.

Watts had a solid freshman year averaging nine points per game playing alongside Cassius Winston in 2019-2020, but struggled to transition to the point guard role full-time in 2021. He averaged just 7.7 points per game, with 2.7 assists but also nearly two turnovers per game.

Still, he joins a completely revamped Bulldogs squad thanks to the transfer portal. Just this off-season former ACC Preseason Player of the Year Garrison Brooks (North Carolina) as well as DJ Jeffries (Memphis) and Shakeel Moore (NC State) have all committed to play for the Bulldogs.

Expect Ben Howland's club to compete for a second NCAA Tournament berth in four seasons.
