Georgia Tech Adds SEC Point Guard to Provide Valuable Insurance to Roster

Deivon Smith has seen the success the guards at Georgia Tech had this past season and wants to be a part of it. He announced his commitment to Josh Pastner’s squad on his Twitter account on Wednesday.

The former Mississippi State guard played in all 33 games for the Bulldogs, logging over 22 minutes off the bench as the sixth man. He averaged 5.2 points, but will need to improve his shooting ability as he shot 33% from the field, 28% from the three-point line, and 61% from the charity stripe. He provides Pastner insurance should star guard Michael Devoe, the ACC Tournament MVP, decide not to return. Devoe has declared for the NBA Draft, but will retain his college eligibility by not hiring an agent.
