The Houtson Cougars nabbed two stars on a busy portal Saturday.
The first is guard Dedan Thomas Jr., who committed to the Cougars Saturday afternoon. The 6'1 guard has played three seasons of college hoops, starting at UNLV before spending last season at LSU where he averaged just over 15 points and 6.5 assists per game. He was limited by a foot injury, but should be ready to go in 2026-27.
Right around the same time, the Cougars picked up a second commitment as Kent State big man Delrocco Gillespie committed to Houston as well. The 6'8 forward was one of the most productive big men in the mid-major ranks this year, averaging 17.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.
