Texas Tech star Mac McClung announced via his Twitter feed that he will prepare for the NBA, while also keeping his options open by entering the transfer portal. In his one season in Lubbock playing for Chris Beard, McClung took home some serious hardware. He was named Big-12 Newcomer of the Year, AP All- Big 12 First Team, and was a Second Team selection by the league.
McClung led Texas Tech in scoring with 15.5 points per game, scoring a season-high 30 against West Virginia. He spent his first two years at Georgetown. Should he decide to return to school, he would have two years of eligibility remaining. If the tie is not right for the NBA, it will be interesting to see if he reunites with Beard and just drops the word Tech from his uniform and plays at Texas.
