New Maryland coach Kevin Willard was looking for his first big win on the recruiting trail, and it came in a big way on Wednesday - as All-Conference USA first team guard Jahmir Young committed to the Terps.
Young is still going through the draft process, so the possibility remains he will never end up in College Park, but if he does, it's a huge get for Willard. Young averaged 19.6 points per game, 5.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists at Charlotte last year, again earning All-First team honors.
Of equal importance, Young is Maryland native and alum of Maryland high school powerhouse DeMatha Catholic, which is good news for Terps fans hoping to keep the best local players home.
