Maryland picks up key low post piece

Maryland has been in search of frontcourt help all off-season and finally got it on Tuesday, when former Alabama forward Galin Smith announced he would commit to the school. Smith chose the Terps over several big-time programs including Arizona State and VCU, and gives the Terps a big body down low with his 6'9, 240 lb. frame. He will be immediately eligible as a grad transfer, after averaging 3.1 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per contest last season.
