New Missouri head coach Dennis Gates has reached out to three of the best transfers in the portal

Missouri hired former Cleveland State head coach Dennis Gates earlier this week, and the new head coach has quickly gotten active in the portal.

According to Stock Riser's Jake Weingarten, Gates has already reached out to three of the biggest names in the transfer portal: Texas Tech's TJ Shannon, Utah Valley's Fardaws Aimaq and Belmont transfer Will Richard.

Shannon has been a key cog for the Red Raiders each of the last three seasons, averaging 12.4 points per game as a sophomore in 2020-2021, and actually declared for the draft following that season. He returned this year, but battled injuries and saw his numbers dip, averaging 10.5 points per game and 38 percent three-point shooting.

Fardaws Aimaq was one of the best big men in all of college basketball, averaging 18.9 points and 13.6 rebounds this season. He is also considering professional options, per multiple reports.

Finally, Richard was a breakout freshman at Belmont, averaging 12 points in his first year of college basketball.
