One of the best guards in college basketball has entered the portal, as late Wednesday night, San Diego State's Lamont Butler announced a decision to enter the transfer portal.
Butler will also test the NBA Draft waters and has not ruled out a return to San Diego State.
Butler's numbers don't blow you away (9.3 points and three assists), but did so on a deep San Diego State team where only one player has averaged more than 12 points per game the last two seasons. He was also the starting point guard on last year's Aztec Final Four team, hitting a buzzer beater over Florida Atlantic to send them to the title game. Additionally, he's arguably the best perimeter defender in college hoops, and won Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year this year.
Butler will have one year of eligibility remaining. Expect him to be pursued any program that needs a point guard.
