Several big-time programs reach out to MAC Freshman of the Year Payton Sparks

On Wednesday, Payton Sparks, a 6'9 forward who was the MAC Freshman of the Year this season, announced he would be transferring from the program, after head coach James Whitford. And he is already receiving interest from some of the biggest programs in college hoops.


According to On 3's Joe Tipton, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Illinois, Ole Miss, Indiana, Loyola-Chicago, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Wichita State, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Central Michigan, Miami (OH), Liberty, Cornell, Hofstra, College of Charleston are among the schools that have reached out to Sparks.


He averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds this past season, earning third team All-MAC honors in addition to the league's Freshman of the Year award.
