Syracuse transfer receives waiver to play automatically

Alan Griffin, a 6'5 wing who averaged just under nine points per game last season at Illinois has received a waiver to play immediately this season at Syracuse. The news was first reported by CBS's Jon Rothstein. Griffin is expected to immediately compete for a starting spot on Jim Boeheim's club next season. His 8.9 ppg at Illinois last season came in just 18 minutes of play.
