Texas Tech adds big-time forward late in transfer game

Transfer portal recruiting is officially winding down, but Texas Tech made a big splash by adding one of the best players available. That's because over the weekend, they received a commitment from former UTEP forward Bryson Williams.

The 6'8 forward averaged 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this past season on his way to All-Conference USA honors, this after averaging 17.1 points per game a season ago. He will bring toughness and scoring to a Red Raiders next season that was thin in the frontcourt.

The recruiting win was especially big for new Texas Tech coach Mark Adams, as Williams chose the Red Raiders over Texas, where Williams' former head coach Rodney Terry is now an assistant. Of course, Texas' new head basketball coach is former Red Raiders coach Chris Beard as well.
