UConn gets a crucial backcourt piece via the portal

UConn has lost a handful of players over the last couple days via the portal, but Dan Hurley got the point guard his team desperately needed on Wednesday - as former East Carolina guard Tristen Newton has committed to the Huskies.

Newton is a big and dynamic 6'6 guard, who was an All-AAC player, who averaged nearly 18 points, five rebounds and five assists this season.

He will help fill a backcourt void after junior Jalen Gaffney and freshmen Rashool Diggins and Corey Floyd have recently transferred.

Newton was No. 10 in Aaron Torres' "Best Players in the Transfer Portal Right Now" list
