Virginia adds a key piece via the transfer portal

Virginia is shaping up to have a heck of a squad in 2022-2023, with all five starters expected to return - however they added a key piece for depth purposes on Saturday.

That's when Ben Vander Plas, a forward from Ohio committed to the Cavaliers, in news first reported by Barstool Sports.

Vander Plas is seemingly a versatile fit in Charlottesville, after averaging 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists, as a versatile point forward for the Bobcats. Ironically, he has played the Cavaliers before, dropping 17 points when Ohio and Virginia met in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, an upset by Ohio.

Vander Plas will have one year of eligibility remaining.
